At St John's CE Primary Academy, the safeguarding and wellbeing of our children is our number one priority. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every child feels valued, protected and able to thrive.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We believe that all staff, Local Academy Committee members, parents, carers, volunteers and visitors have a shared commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Through strong partnerships with families and external agencies, we work together to ensure that every child remains safe, happy and able to achieve their full potential.

Our school follows robust safeguarding procedures and all staff receive regular safeguarding training to ensure they can identify concerns and respond appropriately. We encourage an open culture where concerns can be raised promptly and acted upon effectively.
 

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

While the safeguarding of our children is both the number one priority and the responsibility of all adults at St John’s, we have four fully trained Designated Safeguarding Leads who are responsible for overseeing safeguarding and child protection within school:

• Mr Slater – Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
• Mrs Carnell – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Mrs Trubshaw – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Miss Adamson – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
