Smileys Nursery operates onsite at St. John's School from 8.50 am until 11.50 am Monday to Friday.
Smileys Nursery is a private provider with 25 years of experience of providing nursery care and education. The onsite nursery works in partnership with the school and is able to provide government funded free places. Our staff are qualified, experienced and caring.
We work alongside the school and our children are able to join in many activities with the reception classes. The children become familiar with the school environment by using the playground and using the school hall – e.g. when we sometimes attend school assemblies or watch concerts. This provides a great aid for the children's transition to school as they become familiar with the school environment and staff at the school.
The onsite nursery is intended mainly for use by children who are in their last year of nursery and who wish to move on to St. John's School. For working parents we work closely with our nursery on the County Hospital grounds. Children can attend there from 6.45 am until 6.00 pm. This means that children needing additional provision to the school's onsite nursery hours of 8.50 am to 11.50 am can be taken to and from the 2 sites by our qualified staff.
In the school term after a child's third birthday every child is entitled to 15 hours free nursery provision. This is provided term time only. However, it is important to note that the nursery at our main site on the hospital grounds is open Monday to Friday from 6.45 am until 6.00 pm for 52 weeks of the year. Many 2 year olds are now entitled to 15 hours free nursery provision. To check if you qualify you can visit the website www.staffordshire.gov.uk/think2 or, alternatively, telephone 0300 111 8007.
From September 2017 3 year olds whose parents work over 16 hours and do not earn more than £100,000 per year maybe entitled to either 22 hours free place all year round or 30 hours in school term time only. Please apply at www.gov.uk
Please feel free to telephone or visit the nursery at any time if you have any concerns or queries or if you would like to have a look around. Our contact number is 01785 220720. Please note that although we work in close partnership with the school they cannot take bookings or advise you on availability.
We look forward to welcoming you to Smileys Nursery!
Additional hours are currently charged at £4.70 per hour.
