Rachel Lake from William Salt Library came into school to show our Year 5 pupils information about a house in Stafford. They had to use census data, books and artefacts to find out what life was like between 1841 and 1911.
On Friday 5 May 2017 the Year 5 football team took part in a football tournament at Leasowes Primary Academy along with 16 other schools. We had a slow start with a 0-0 draw against Parkside Academy. In our second game we stepped up a gear against Barnfields Primary and, with some great passing by Travis, Hayley and Shamip, we won the game 2-0. Jude and Daniel were ‘on fire’ in the third game and, after an early opening goal by Daniel and a ‘hat-trick’ by Jude, it took St. John’s to a 5-1 victory. We played St. Andrew’s in our fourth game and, keeping up the pace, Travis was unlucky not to score but got a great assist to Jude helping him to find the back of the net. With some great defending and more goals we won the game 3-0 taking us to the top of our group and an automatic place in the semi-final.
Namsang pulled off some amazing saves throughout the tournament but especially in the semi-final against Brewood – we were unlucky to lose 1-0. Brewood went on to win the tournament and St. John’s team did really well to finish third.
The Y6 football team took part in a football tournament at Leasowes Primary School on Friday 5 May 2017.The tournament kicked off with a 1-0 victory against Stafford Prep as Aled Mattox grabbed a late winner towards the end of the match. After a short break our second match resulted in a 0-0 draw against Parkside.A few key saves from our goalkeeper, Callum Wright, kept us in the game but in the end the game was goalless. A great performance from the team in the third game granted us a 9-0 win against Flash Ley after our captain, Jacob Kennett, had the game of his life - scoring 6 goals in the first 5 minutes! There were also goals for newcomers Ben Bennett and Jamie Carroll as they scored one each before Aled Mattox was brought on to increase the goal difference but, unfortunately, only managed to grab one in the late stages of the match which left us tied with Leasowes A team. There was great defensive duty from Ben, Louis and Matthew but we lost on penalties. Well done to everyone who took part and a massive round of applause for the teachers.
We had a fantastic evening. Well done to all our children who took part. We rasied over £200 for Comic Relief.
We have had a lovely day dressing up as our favourite book characters.
We have had a wonderful two days learning all about different cultures around the world. Our pupils have discovered lots of information about different countries including Nepal, Australia, Japan, Italy, France and Mexico.
Our facebook page is now live. The page is called st johns CE primary academy.

The children at school made cakes and bunting for the morning and the parents and carers were invited to join us and help raise money for this special cause.
Thank you to all the parents and staff that stayed on a Friday night to help run the school disco. The children all had a great time and we raised:
Well done ST Johns!
